Banana peel can be used as fertilizer for flowers. When planting roses, bury it in a hole. You can also add it to water and leave it for a few days to make banana peel tea. This is an excellent fertilizer for houseplants. Try drying the peel until it turns black. Then you need to crush it to make a powder.
Banana peels contain nutrients that are essential for potted plants. They enrich the soil with potassium, as well as small amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and magnesium, just like a slow-release fertilizer. You can combine them with complete plant fertilizers. That way you can be sure they get the nutrients they need.
Similar to compost tea, the aforementioned blend uses the nutritional properties of banana peel to give your plants the mineral boost they need. Fill a large jar with water and add the banana peel. Set aside for 48 hours. After two days, discard the peel. Water your plants with water from the jar.
You can also fill ¾ of a large jar (2 liters) with water and place it in the refrigerator. Every time you eat a banana, cut the peel into small pieces and put them in the mixture. Keep the jar of boiled banana water in the refrigerator for about a week. When it’s full, strain out the peels and mix with 3 liters of pure water.
This will give you a natural, liquid, organic fertilizer rich in potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen. The mixture of water and banana peels nourishes and strengthens the plants, and helps counteract diseases and pests.
Use banana peels as fertilizer. Dry them and then grind them into a powder. You can pour it directly into the soil or use a blender to make a paste with the soaked peels. This way you will nourish your plants and also control pests
Banana peel powder also makes a great addition to seedlings. Add a pinch to the starter mix in each pot. This will help stimulate the seeds to germinate.
If you like, throw banana peels into your compost pile. This may not be the most ingenious way to use them, but it nevertheless produces satisfactory results. Over time, the peels will decompose and turn into rich compost. You can use it when preparing your planting beds. It will also come in handy when plants start to flower. They will appreciate the extra nutrients.
The spray mentioned above uses banana tea, eggshells, Epsom salts and water. This will enrich the soil with potassium, calcium and magnesium. Dry out the banana peels. Cut them in whole or in strips and arrange them so that they do not meet on a baking tray. Dry them at 60 degrees Celsius without closing the oven tightly and wait for them to dry. Now grind the dried peels and eggshells together. Pour them into a sprayer and fill with Epsom salt and water. Spray the plants as needed.
If you want to make such a spray tea, prepare: three crushed, dried and ground eggshells, four dried, ground banana peels, one tablespoon of Epsom salt and a liter of water. Blend or process the mixture in a blender or food processor on “high setting.”
Cut up banana peels and put them in a plastic container with a lid. Yogurt or margarine containers work great here. Cover the peel with apple cider vinegar and place the lid on the container. Punch holes in the lid large enough for insects to get in. The smell of the banana peel and vinegar will attract flies. They will fly into the container and drown in the liquid. You will get rid of many insects this way.
Fermented banana peel fertilizer provides essential nutrients to flowering plants. This concoction will work well for both small and large flowers. Place a few peels in a jar and pour in water. Cover the jar with a cloth and use a rubber band to hold it steady. Place the jar in a dimly lit, room temperature location for about a week. This will allow the beneficial bacteria to release the nutrients in the banana peel. After a week, drain the peels. Remember not to pour out the water. You can use it as a liquid fertilizer
Put the peels in a blender and blend to a puree. Use them as a fertilizer for blooming flowers. If you notice mold in it or it smells very bad, stop using it.
